Glock 19 or 26 and the XD Subcompact in 9mm are both very manageable as well as safe and give you some grip variations. The Kahr might be nice but not as affordable. You can get the gun "pinked" with Duracoat for $80 as well.

Good earmuffs and start with a .22 or pellet gun.... No crowded ranges. Josh over at Hotwells is a great instructor and from what I have seen, works very well with the ladies. I am trying to get my wife over there to him as well....she likes skeet and trap but would love IDPA and "whupping up on the boys" if I could just get her to go once.

Good luck and please let us know how it goes! :thumbs2:

The first Saturday of the month, at PSC-Range is Ladies day as well.
Check out http://www.psc-range.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; and click on Calendar to see the date/time and what to bring
You do not have to be a member to participate, so that is another way that woman can see what other women are doing, they talk, work on safety, drills, shoot and have some fun.
my wife went last month and really enjoyed it
I think there is a minimal cost of maybe $15 for non-PSC members and $10 for members
