Bummer for the start of summer...

Post by Clutch »

Well, I've been checking the DPS web page for an update. FINALLY! I got an update on the 26th that told me that my fingerprints and my background check were

"under review"... So I pull up a chair, pop a top and try to relax for about thirty days or so. Well, I can't hold it any longer, I check the site again yesterday,

and low and behold AN UPDATE! Now, my update is "Photo : Quality unacceptable, notice sent to applicant"!

:cryin AAARRRGGGHHH! So, my question is this...does this put everything in my app on hold?

I work in South America and I won't get home for a few weeks to re-submit my photos.

I don't want the whole nine yards to be on hold 'til get home for R&R... Anybody know if my background and fingerprint check will continue?

Thanks in advance... Please, if it's bad news... be gentle...

I don't believe it will, atleast it certainly seemed as though everything was on halt when my picture was too dark.

I believe you have a month or two to correct the issue, try not to let it go on too long.

If possible, have the photos done where you are now, sign the back of both and email them to DPS. Since they have the original photos, they will accept replacements without the signature of a person taking your fingerprints.

If you can't get passport photos done, I may be able to help. Have someone take digital photos of you against a white background and email them to me at Charles@TexasShooting.com. I have software to turn them into a passport photo. Take 4 or 5 shots without hats or glasses and take them from different distances to make sure I can resize it to make it work. I can then email them to you or someone else to print and mail to DPS.

WOW! I am not sure what to say to that! Mr. Cotton, your offer is very generous as I know your time is valuable. I have made arrangements to be home (Baytown)

on the 11th and I am sure I will have the "package" from DPS with instructions on how to proceed with new photos. I am not saying that i won't take you up

on the offer, but let me try to get it done without taking your time. I am curious, though, about e-mailing the photos to DPS? Is that acceptable?

Have you had any experience with e-mailing passport photos? If I have to sign the back, that would mean I would have to scan them and send the scanned copy?

Thanks again for the kind offer, you have certainly raised my level of respect for you and this forum.

Additionally you have made a "new guy" feel welcome and I look forward to making this my new CHL reference home.

Kind regards,

B :tiphat:

Sorry to have confused you. I mean I will email the photos back to you when I put them in passport photo format. You would sign them than mail them to DPS.

Just let me know if you need my help.

I am confident that when I left some information out, my application did NOT go back in the pile, everything else must have still have been worked on, Good Luck.

Well, I have my question answered...maybe. Today, status changed and my fingerprints have been accepted. So, I THINK that means if you miss a piece of

information, your application continues! Thanks for all the responses! Best Regards to all!

I'll second what Ldy AlliDu said. I had to resubmit photos and my application seems to be progressing the same as everyone else in the April submissions waiting room.

As they already had the photos of me that the instructor and I had signed, I did not sign the back of my new photos. They went green within just a couple of days after arriving at DPS. Of course, YMMV.

I had the same problem, the photo taker does not need to sign the second photos but I recommend that you sign them and print your name as well-worked for me.
Good luck.
