I don't know about Wisconsin, but hasn't TAKS test preparation pretty much taken the place of Geography, History, English Grammar and penmanship in the Texas schools ? I've been told...

From what I've been hearing they don't even stress punctuation anymore. They don't know what periods, commas, question marks, etc. are. When they get to college they have to take a class for that.

I'll bet you'd be really surprised at the number of people who can not name the contiguous states of most states without a map in font of them. For example: what states border Iowa, what states border Delaware, what states border Kentucky? No peeping?
