Deciding on a Mossberg

Post by MrDrummy »

Hey everyone-- I'm real new to the shotgun world, and I've got a decision to make, and was wondering if any of you have any experience with either the Mossberg 500 (a classic, from what I've read) and the 835. I'd be using this for hunting mostly, and for HD for the wife when I'm away from home.

Any big difference other than mag shells? I've got a buddy with a used 835 that he's willing to sell-- is it a better gun than the 500? Opinions please!

I've got a 500A that is not used for anything other than home defence...I probably couldn't hit a bird with it to save my life...But load it up with 00 or slugs...ouch...

If you are intending on using it for double duty, I can't throw rocks at the 835 if you have a deal lined up...

Go for it! Deals are a good thing!!!

500 is good. If you have opportunity look at a 590.

That is a very nice looking shotgun.

Makes my home defense build look pretty pathetic  I am betting that one did not come from a garage sale!

Very very nice.

I am going to replace the red dot with a reflex. Reflex sights need no battery and are always on.
