High Caliber gun show Houston

Post by SecedeTX »

I am planning on attending the High Caliber gun show this weekend at George R Brown. Anyone else showing up? I will be there at 9am Saturday with 4 other friends ready to buy if the price is right!

I was thinking about it. How much is it to park at GRB? I think it cost more to park than the show admission.

I park over by the ballpark, so it is just a few blocks. Saves some money. Parking is usually 10 to 12 bucks by the GRB. I think entrance is $7

I'll be there! I'm coming armed...with cash  . I'm looking for an XDm .45 while I'm there this time. Bringing my daughter along who I realized I've never taken to a gun show. My son goes with me all the time but I need to spread it out a little bit among the kids because the daughters are actually interested too. Afterwards I think we will head over to Collectors Firearms and then head out to the range (ASC or Hot Wells) to shoot whatever we pick up.

I am going to buy an AR-15, some other goodies. This could be an expensive gun show for me

I am looking for a .223 flat top with quad rails, 16" or 18" barrel, either an Aimpoint or Eotech sight (leaning towards the Eotech 512) and possibly a surefire light. You know, a zombie gun!

If they have the crimson trace for my concealed carry, I may pick that up also.

Do they usually have good prices at those gun shows? We have one here in Abilene July 31st and Aug 1st but ours are
usually high priced on about everything. I do hope i can find some 45 ACP ammo as thats hard to find anyplace though.
I did see(last show) some Rock River Arms AR15's not too bad but i already have 4 AR15's.... :patriot:

Everything at a gun show can be negotiated. I look at the price posted as more of what they would like to get for it. The High Caliber is a good sized show which leads to more competative pricing (bit better than the smaller shows)

The High Caliber has too many nick-nack booths for my taste, but not a bad show.

I usually just pay the $10 and park underground right there at the front entrance...Especially in the summer months...For obvious reasons...

I figure since the Lastros might be playing this weekend, you might not have too much of a problem finding parking around there... :smilelol5:

I don't much like the idea of using the crimson trace for my CC. When I use one with a CT on it I find it either distracting because I'm suddenly looking to the red dot for confirmation or I'm giving away my position and the fact that I'm armed with the light beam. I like being able to simply point and shoot and hit my target and practicing that over and over.

I used to street park but I don't mind the exercise.

I might head up there Sunday morning, I'm looking for a McMillan A-5 for my Rem. 700 and a flat top upper for an AR. I will probably just ride my bike up there if its not too hot, get some excersize and what not. The bike makes it easier on the bank account too, hard to carry an arsenal on a 12 speed.

:eek6

$10-12 to park and then add another $7 for admission? Have I got this right, any purchase made during the show is increased by $17-19 because it was purchased in the GRB at a Gun Show?

That is outrageous! Why go?

Downtown Houston. Hell, I pay $135 a month to park downtown. My parking garage is 10 blocks away from the GRB, so I will pay the opportunist lot people. During the week, the same parking lots are $4-6 dollars a day.

The thing is, you just need to spend more money per trip to make the parking and entrance fee look smaller. My logic works out, right?
