Mexican Bakery in DFW area

Post by age_ranger »

My wife was brought up in a predominantly Mexican neighborhood in California and brags about the Mexican bakeries down the street and how she loved waking up on the weekend to a fresh box on the dining room table. I live in Plano and have been looking for a bakery so I can surprise her, but haven't been able to find one. Anyone know the location of a Mexican bakery? I'll drive just about anywhere

Uhh, this might be in the wrong place so I'll add to it............Please let me know if the bakery is pro-carry as well :smilelol5:

TIA

Esperanzas runs two in Fort Worth. One south of the stockyard area, and the other on south Henderson.

I don't know if they're exactly "pro-carry," but they don't ahve a valid 30.06 sign.

+1 for Esperanza's! Not only are they a bakery, they have the best Mexican food around....next to Joe T's of course.

I always ask the "horizontally gifted" for food recommendations. They look like they'd know...

/shouldn't this be in the Off Topic area?

Panaderia Guatelmalteca on the northwest corner of Jupiter and 14th st Plano (unless you are one of those west plano types that are afraid of east plano). The pan at El Mariachi market on Ave K is not bad either.

Panaderia El Rey

(214) 275-5556

South Dallas/Oak Cliff
2810 S Buckner Blvd
Dallas, TX 75227

I've never been there, but I've passed it several times on the way to Williams Chicken, Brother Mans' BBQ, and Hardeman's in the "hood". Let me know if you like it because I've been thinking about going there, too. It's not dangerous because I dine in Oak Cliff/S Dallas all the time (day and night) and I've never had any incident. You just have to look at them, smile, and say, "hi." If you act scared of the homeless guys and run, they get angry. Sometimes, I leave some change on top of my car and tell them to watch it for me. I don't expect them to really watch my car, but I think it creates good karma or something.

If some young guy with athletic wear walks buy, I'll say, "hi," or, "yo man, waz up?" Smile, and look them in the eye when you say that. Just in case they approach me in a suspicious manner asking for something, I plan to toss them $5 wrapped around an old casino chip. That way, they'll have to extend both arms to catch it so they won't have a hand inside a suspicious pocket. While they're doing that, I plan on driving off. That said, I've never had to toss the $5. There's never even been a near incident. In other words, it's safe.

You know, everyone always talk about revitalizing the inner city and getting kids out of gangs. The best way to do that is to spend money in the inner city so jobs are created. Socialism is not the answer to our inner city woes. You might be surprised to find that good Christians driving south and spending money is.

P.S. If you're NTCOFT Atheist, Buddhist, Muslim, Jewish, Morman, Wiccan, etc, just substitute that for "Christian" in my post.

There's Vera's bakery at 932 W. Davis in Oak Cliff. My wife loves it but personally I think products from Mexican bakeries are pretty bland. If I'm going to eat cake, by golly, I want enough sugar in it to give me a buzz.

Jeez, that address (2810 S. Buckner) is over eight miles from Oak Cliff. You'd have to drive through Pleasant Grove to get to Oak Cliff from that loacation.

11555 Ferguson may be East Dallas, but not the Lakewood area. There is a small family owned Mex bakery on
Richmond @ Greenville Ave. (behind the 7-11).
2810 S. Buckner IS the "Grove".....I take a extra magazine when I venture into the "Grove".....just saying
