I can't comment on all of Cabela's gun prices, but even with $50 off of a certain gun that I bought a few weeks ago (at Academy) it would STILL be $20 higher at Cabela's, according to its website (and Bass Pro)! Crazy, eh?

Agreed. However they are often competitive on optics. I can usually save 30 or 40 bucks on optics with the coupons vs other places like optics world, etc.
