Snacks and food for 400 mile round trip: $30

Diesel fuel for 400 mile round trip: $55

Getting your stepson put in a choke hold by his favorite TV show (Lock N Load) host, R Lee Ermey for his 11th birthday: Priceless

The lines at the Bass Pro shop in Grapevine were LONG...we waited over 4.5 hours to see him, but it was worth it. Gunny took time with EVERYBODY to stop and chat, sign stuff, and pose for pics. He is warm, friendly, and definitely has no "movie star" attitude. He and I talked about shooting and I was mentioning my new 1911 when he enthusiastically talked about the .45 GAP. While I know he's a Glock spokesperson, he was only there as a SOG spokesperson, and I definitely got the feeling he had a personal passion for the .45 GAP. Interesting, but I'm probably like many other shooters that don't find an uncommon cartridge design appealing (ok, except for the 6.5 Grendel  )

My wife and kids went out there and she said the same thing...very nice man. He played with my youngest (8 months old) and did the whole baby talk thing with her. She was surprised how nice he really was. In fact, I have me a nice signed photo sitting in my work area today from the Gunny...good stuff.

"Gunny" sounds like a "stand-up guy." Meeting people for more than four hours and still making the time to talk to them and pose for pictures. :tiphat:

Awe! I didn't know he was going to be there, or I would have rescheduled my 1 hour long massage at Massage Envy to go to Bass Pro! (or not... that was a pretty good massage...)

Crossfire told me about meeting him at the SHOT show last year. She said he was a pretty cool guy, and she got her picture taken with him.

Heck, TAM, I'd have saved you a spot and then we could have jabbered away after you got back from Envious Massage  Tell you what, after I stood in line for almost 5 hours, I was ready to have my legs and feet massaged -- I'm a wimp! Reminded me of being in stupid parade formations when I was first in the military, LOTS of standing still, very little movement.

Ohhhh we could make some really great gunny quotes from Full Metal Jacket......but then we would be immediately banned! :smilelol5:

I have never heard anything but nice things about him. I have seen some videos where he talks about the .45 GAP and he does seem to like it.

Geico car insurance has a new ad where the gunny
is the psychiatrist and he yells at the patient, then
throws a box of Kleenex at him. I burst out laughing
every time I see it.

Funny you should mention that. While we were in line, a few guys ahead of us decided to liberally make Gunny quotes from FMJ. I politely asked them to be respectful of the presence of the small boy. They apologized and lowered their voices appropriately. It's interesting seeing how two (or three) generations see him differently. My child has NO idea what he was like in FMJ (nor will he for a few years), but absolutely loves his Lock n Load show (and laughs every time he sees the Geico commercial too)
