Anyone heard of this holster maker?

Post by quoheleth »

Searching for an IWB holster for my SR9c brought up these guys on another gun forum:

http://www.concealedtechnology.com/index.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Anyone familiar with them? Folks seem to like their holsters as being better finish than Crossbreed but at an even lower pricepoint than CB or Comptac.

I ordered earlier this week to try. Almost did the Supertuck, but this guy has a no questions warranty, too, so I figured nothing to lose!

Not me. Looking at them I would not be afraid of it. The Rip Cord one is novel.

I know I've seen a couple of forum members talking highly of them, but I can't remember who.

I liked what I saw on the website so I ordered one several months ago. After about 3 weeks and several emails and phone calls, the holster had still not been made. I reluctantly canceled the order and ordered an MTAC. If I had not been in a pinch for an IWB holster, I would have been more patient and saved the extra $30 I spent on the MTAC (I like my MTAC though ). Let us know how you like it.

Hmmm...Tregs, this is a bit of discouraging news. I received an email back from the owner, Rob, the day after placing my order complementing me on my choice of carry carry guns (Ruger SR9c). I'll do a couple follow-ups with him over the next month and make sure things go smoothly.

I dont want to discourage you. I talked to Rob a few times on the phone and emailed back and forth. He is a very nice guy and always promptly replied. I just think he was slammed with orders when I placed mine. He also had some raw material shortages that made things worse. In the end I needed a tuckable holster quickly. He was professional and honest about the continued delay and agreed to cancel my order without issue.
I may place another order with him in the future on another gun when I'm not pressed for time.

I have 2 of his holsters.

I wear one daily similar to the rip-cord (prior to him adding the cord) with my Diamondback DB380 (my BUG) and the Comp-Tac clip.

I also wear the Comfort Carry, mostly in the Winter and on Sundays. I use the Comp-Tac Velcro clips and Velcro belt with it. It's a very very well made holster, a bit stiff at first since it's twice the leather/horsehide of other brands.
Any Comp-Tac clip system can be used with his holsters.

The wait was worth it IMHO....

I have one of his IWB holsters. It's really good. I may get another for an other gun. Good quality materials, and well constructed. The holster grips my revolver very nicely, and it's comfortable.

Retention is much better than on my Kholster, but one caveat:

If you have an internal guide rod laser which activates by the take down lever, you probably need to warm the kydex with a hair drier and use a small spoon inside to push that recess out a little so your laser doesn't stay on (for Taurus PT-92 or Glocks or others with internal lasers) That's what I did and it's fine now. Retention/kydex molding is much better than many others.

When I first got it last year, I tried all the types of clips Comp-Tac makes and they all work on Rob's holsters.

My evaluation is that his product is underpriced for what he is selling compared to other hybrids.... hopefully he won't realize that for a while.

He is a one-man shop, so sometimes he may be waiting on a shipment of clips/hardware/horsehide/leather, but as I said, it was worth the wait for me with that quality+price.

Smooth leather against the gun, smooth horsehide against the skin. (In summer you might baby powder/shower to shower powder between skin and horsehide if you go "commando" with any holster to reduce sweat, but it sure won't soak through this holster)

Here's another similar hybrid holster maker that seems to be competing directly with Crossbreed and Comp Tac on price

I received my holster in yesterday's mail. It appears to be a very solid, high-quality kydex and leather rig with Comp-Tac belt clips. I did exchange a few emails with him through the process, asking how things were progressing. He was delayed because his mother passed away suddenly --- that would derail any business! As a result, delivery time was closer to five or six weeks, but that is understandable.

I think CompTac had some clips on sale too if you need extras, or want to try other types. I've tried all them on my Comfort Carry, all work well. Sale may or may not be over now, but sign up for the newsletter to get special offers. Looks like they may have sold out ov the V-clips/Velcro clips temporarily (I wear those for Church with my Comptac Velcro lined belt and Comfort Carry holster)
