Both Wilson and Chip McCormack make excellent magazines. I think you mean Power Mag not Pro Mag. Pro Mags are another maker that aren't nearly as good as the other two. Virgil Tripp makes the Cobra Mag that many think is the best 1911 mag on the market. Ten round mags are non flush fit they stick out from the butt of your gun a couple of inches go with seven or eight round mags.

I have several of the Wilson Combats & also the Chip McCormick kPower mags.
Both are 1st rate mags. preference is Wilsons in an alloy frame gun & Chips in a Steel.

You might also consider looking at the Kim-Pro Tac Mag.

I picked up two of these and they work great.
The main reason I like them is that they are flush fitting (without adding the bumpers) but still hold 8 rounds.

I used the Wilson Mags briefly but didn't like the extra part hanging out of the gun..just a personal preference. ;-)

I use only Wilson Tactical Mag since day one. Hasnt had a ftf or stove pipe. The build quality is so much better then the stk Kimber one. CDP Pro 8 shot Wilson Combet Mags. The other ones mentioned are good also.

I use Wilsons and have had no issues with them.

When I was shooting IDPA pretty regularly, I remember a few people had problems with McCormick mags.

I've got two types of Wilsons, and three types of Chip McCormicks.

They're all top notch. All of my Wilsons have been flawless. My McCormick Power-Mag has begun giving me an occasional feeding problem of late...but I blame that on (a)dirty and (b) worn-out spring.

My McCormick "Match Grade" and Shooting Star classic (8 rd) have been 100% flawless...so much so that they are my choice for carry since they're flush-fit and more concealable.

For competition, on the other hand, I tend to load with a Wilson Standard 8 rd, and two Elite Tacticals in the pouches (the wider base pad is great for on-clock reloads!)

so...I agree--buy one or two of each and see what you like. You won't be disappointed in any of them.

Just to chime in I have both several magazines from both Wilson Combat and Chip McCormick. They're both great magazines...I have several of the 8-round WC mags that I use for carrying, and a couple of the 10-round CMC mags for going to the range.

I have a Wilson and Chip M. mag for my Kimber CDP II. I bought one of each because I posed the same question. I like the Wilson mag by far over the Chip. Don't get me wrong, the CM is a good mag, but the Wilson just feels better all around. I had a KimPro Tac mag and it's sitting in pieces in one of my cabinets. I didn't see much more quality from it than the factory mag. (Followers). If I go buy another DECENT follower for a 1911 mag, I'm sure it'll be put to good use. That's my .02

I use WC in all my 1911 and they work great. I am sure CM mags are fine also. Kimber has some of the work mags out there next to Springfield which are the worst. I only buy 7 or 8 round mags, but that’s just me.
