Man Shot in the Head Seeks Medical Treatment - 5 Years Later

Post by Excaliber »

A polish man was shot in the head approximately 5 years ago during a New Year's Eve party which apparently involved consumption of considerable amounts of alcohol. He remembers receiving a blow to the head, but didn't find out until recently that it was due to a bullet impact.

The projectile was 5.6mm in diameter - a nominal .22 caliber.

So much for stopping power.

Details here.

According to the article, the victim wasn't too sure about that either - it could have been 6 years. Apparently a few of those really good New Years Eve parties kinda tended to blend together.

Not that I'm proud of it but I can relate to that back in the days...though I never ended up with an unexplained piece if lead in me.

My 86 year old mother's 89 year old boyfriend is a Polish engineer (no Aggie jokes, please). He is retired as the dean of the UCLA school of engineering, and he is a pretty smart guy.... ....except for one thing: He still can (and does) put away the vodka. I love the guy, but his nose looks like a sun-dried tomato.

My cousin is a Nuclear Physicist. I am not smart enough to know if he is any good at Nuclear-stuff, but he is published.

I always wondered how the phenomenon of Polish-jokes originated. There are so many intellectual Poles throughout history, yet they have such a lackluster reputation in the US.

Being basically a Polish-Irish-Mexican (and supposedly Blackfoot/Cherokee, but everyone claims that), I know many good ethnic jokes.

On the topic, I sympathize with the guy shot in the noggin. I was injured in Afghanistan and waited 3 years before I applied for disability compensation. I really dislike the idea of getting money from the Feds, but after 3 years of increasing pain and inability to do some things I figured that I better get it addressed. I also dislike doctors & hospitals.

Mrs. TexDotCom claims a Polish heritage and, when I e-mailed her the link to this news story, responded almost immediately with:

"I love it…he’s “not one to go to the doctor”. THERE’S A BULLET IN YOUR HEAD!"

Love my bride.
