Help with a Pocket Carry Holster

I was wondering if the forum could give me some guidance on a pocket carry holster for my new Ruger LCP. I got a Uncle Mikes #1 when I purchased the gun. It does an adequate job of concealment. As long as I am walking about I see no print at all. However, when I kneel, such as maybe in a store to look at something on a lower shelf I think I can barely make my gun outline. I realize I may be being over critical. That being said, I have seen some holsters that have a larger solid leather peice that you place against the pocket. I think this would aid concealment quite a bit. I was wondering if any of you had some expierience with these types of holsters. If so what brand and some feedback would be appreciated.

The holster the reviewers liked best is the Fist K5. I have two of these that I consider far and away superior to anything else on the market because the thumb shelf lets you reliably separate the holster from the gun in the pocket. I've gone through a bunch of the others and haven't found anything that works nearly as well.

Concealability is outstanding. I never have any concerns at all about printing when carrying a Kahr PM40 in a right front pocket of cargo shorts or similar pants.

The company also offers an option to put an extra piece of kydex on the outside of the holster to completely eliminate any possibility of printing. Contact them for details.

Don't rely on the "sticky as flypaper" or "hook grabs onto the pocket" claims of some of the manufacturers out there. When you're in a hurry, those holsters are as likely as not to come out of the pocket along with the gun. This can be fatally embarrassing.

For my LCP I use a hunter wallet holster. I have one for the gun with the laser guard and one for it should I remove the LG.

Also, somewhere around here I have a piece of scrap leather that I cut to the shape of my pocket. Only cost a few cents.

Insert that and it makes no difference what you put in the pocket.

I think the wallet holster is what you are thinking about.

You can pick one up at a gun show most likely. They cost about $40.
I don't ever seem to see them in the gun stores - CTD, Cabelas, Academy don't have them.
For right front or right rear pocket carry, you want the reverse of this image, which may be hard to find.

his holsters have a great inner fabric lining that doesn't get tacky like leather sometimes can, leading gun to stick in holster and you to draw gun with holster still attached.

Reasonable prices and nice guy too.

On occasion, I pocket carry a glock 26 for short trips in a desantis nemesis. To me, it very clearly looks like a GUN in my front pocket no matter how I'm standing or kneeling. But having worn it a few months now, (son's baseball practice - I was coaching, Blockbuster, supermarkets, gas stations, Walgreens, etc) no one has ever ever looked at me different, or said something - including family members and friends I have been around. So unless you don't like the functionality of the uncle mikes and want to try something different, there are some good suggestions from the others. If its about concealment, don't worry about the print when kneeling - no one will ever notice.

I have a Mika holster for a P3AT. Works well, well made, don't remember the cost but it wasn't a whole lot. The only drawback at the time is he was booked up well in advance, so it took two months. He told me this at the time of order and gave me chance to cancel, but I stuck with it. Glad I did.

+1 for Mikas. I have a couple of years of carrying a Glock 26 in mine and it shows absolutely no wear. I have had horrible luck with any of the leather ones I tried.

I think you're definitely overthinking it. People usually won't recognize a large bulge on the waistband as a gun; there's no way they're going to notice a slight outline in your pocket.

I notice you're new to CHL; we all go through a nervous period thinking that everyone can see our gun. Just make sure you're not printing badly and carry away. You get less self-conscious about it after a few months of carrying regularly.
