sig 238????
I know some of you guys have this little gun..has sig fixed the initial problems they had when it was first introduced??? I now have an lcp but it IS handful for me to shoot on target...thinking maybe the sig would be a better choice....any response or suggestion would be appreciated...
Re: sig 238????
I bought my P238 used. It was an early model that had been back for warranty twice.
Since I've bought it it has been problem-free.
Mine replaced a LCP, it's much nicer to shoot.
However, being single-action, more thought/training is required to use it.

Re: sig 238????
thanks rexb..is it that much easier to shoot??? to justify the cost..but i will most probably trade in my lcp on it.. i am a small framed man..with small hands and small mans pockets....have been tempted by this little gun for quite a while..but there are alot of negative comments out there..and alot of positive comments...?????
Re: sig 238????
My wife just got her P238. She tried to shoot the LCP and just could not rack it, pull the trigger well and it kicked more. She fell in love with the P238. I have shot it and I must admit it shoots pretty good for a little guy. Easier for me to grip, rack and trigger is much nicer. Had to get used to it abit to hit good groups but that is what practice is about. Ran almost 200 rounds through it and worked great. only problem wife had was I think the reset has a small detent that was not a full reset and when she pulled the trigger again, it did not fire. I have to similate but not sure that was what she did. I can feel two distinct very small resets. The round did not have a strike mark so suspecting she did not fully reset it, it dropped the hammer but the pin was still blocked. will have to check it more and have reset smoothed out some. But shoots really nice.

Re: sig 238????
We sell a lot of 238's, actually it is second to Ruger LCR's. We have not heard of a single problem with any of our customers 238's, and we would have. Personally I really like the 238, it has real sights and a sweet triggger, unlike the others in the 380 catagory, then again it is also more expensive. It is a slight bit bigger than the LCP but still small enough to carry in a pocket or a small purse. As far as accuracy goes I have no problem hitting paper plates at 50 feet, even with my old eyes. There has been a "lemon" or two that hit the market although Sig has made good on getting them repaired.

Re: sig 238????
I have not fired any other .380 gun, so I can only talk about the P238.
It is very sweet to fire, with very little recoil. The single action only trigger is an easy pull and with care I can hit paper plates at 15 yards. Firing fast I can hit a 30 x 40 target only (I need to work on that). It would not bother me to shoot it all day.
It seems very well made with a high fit and level of finish. I got the SAS model with the rosewood grips, which is a very attractive gun if you like that in a weapon.
It comes with only one magazine (my other guns came with two or three). I attempted to purchase another one that was supposedly a factory SIG magazine, but it looked slightly different and I immediately began having ejection and failure to fire problems with this magazine. I returned it and I am back to zero problems. I have now fired about 400 rounds.
The bad reports on this and other forums about the gun and the poor customer service at SIG worry me, but at this point I am very satisfied with my purchase.
The only real issue is the lack of .380 ammunition available at the less expensive places near me. Walmart, Academy Sports or Bass Pro Shop always seem to be out. (Bass Pro Shop now has .380 ammunition at $37 for 50 ball rounds)

I have 2 of them (His 'n Hers), and both have been flawless through about 1,000 rounds total. Both have January 2010 birthdays and they just work.

Re: sig 238????
I had one. I really love it. It shoots pretty well and soft to no felt recoil depending on ammo. I never had any problem with it.
