the check out lady at Academy wanted to know....

Yesterday the wife and I celebrated our 35th wedding anniversary!

We did so in a subdued manor by going out for breakfast and then shopping at Sam's Club and Academy.

We went to Sam's for groceries and Academy for some 9mm. (Can't believe that the wife didn't buy anything at Academy, for she always wants a pair of shorts or something... guess that was my Anniversary present!)

Checking out at Academy, the young lady said, "You don't look old enough to buy this, may I see some ID?"

"Thanks for the compliment." as I showed her my DL, and for some reason I pulled out my CHL as well...

Looking at my CHL she said, "Well, you have to be 21 to have one of those..." <wink>, "Where did you get yours, I just turned 21 and I want to get mine."

I told her where I got mine and she was greatful.

It doesn't hurt spread the word sometimes.

Heh. They never ask me for ID.

I wonder if they have senior-citizen discounts.

At the start, I thought this was going to be a bad experience. Luckily I was wrong. This is great to hear. In my CHL class I was the second youngest in the class. The youngest was 21 and male. The youngest female in the class was somewhere around 35-40yrs. old. Hearing about a 21y/o female seeking her CHL gives me a greater confidence in my generation. This is a great step. Hopefully her friends follow suit and make up their minds not to become another statistic.

I've never used my CHL as an ID so I've never had that experience. so far the only people that ask for my ID are wally world employees that want to make sure I'm old enough to buy a can of powder solvent. The can of draino apparently doesn't require an ID though...

Uh! That's MR. GEEZER! to you sonny. I'm 48

It's great to see so many young ones understanding the need to self protection, My youngest daughter is 12 and I will incourgae her to be ready at 21

Our oldest granddaughter is 12, and could easily be mistaken for a larger 14 year old.
She can shoot the course of fire for the qualifier with my 9mm, now.
She was a little shakey when we moved up to the 9, but she did it anyway, and got used to it quickly.
She just loves popping the steel silhouettes with the .22.
I've been wondering if she could be a competitive shooter.
I'm pretty proud of her. :-)
