It was raining today (Saturday) in the Dallas area so I decided to go to the indoor range in the afternoon. Today I took my Beretta 92...took one of my carry guns, S&W manufacture Walther PPK/s 380, and my (NFA registered) full-auto MAC10/9.
Went to DFW Gun in Dallas. They were busy as it was Saturday and rainy. Got on the line, the PPK/s was flawless with Privi Partisan and Fiocchi ammo that I bought from ammoman.com. The "worldwide shortage" of .380 is lessening somewhat, but was happy to see that my Eastern Bloc ammo fired well.
Beretta was spot on as usual. I'm no marksman, but I had 3"-4" groups at 7 and 10 yards which I think is OK for my casual style of shooting w/ stock sites.
I had some new steel 36rd mags for the MAC (it's an original manufacture Powder Springs 9mm). During the (idiotic) ban of '94-'04 it was really hard to find good mags for the MAC. The new ones that I had really made a difference. Easy to load, insert, remove, no jams, etc. The MAC eats any kind of cruddy ammo, so I unloaded about 200rd of Wolf lacquer coated steel case Russian ammo through it and the two stage silencer ("can"). Forgot to bring some subsonic ammo, so the can wasn't as quiet with the supersonic "crack" downrange.
Put another 25rd of Privi Partisan through the PPK/s, then cleared/reloaded/checked it and stuffed it in my CC location.
DFW Gun is a good range and my experience is that their staff is friendly and polite. I noticed that they engaged new shooters and didn't have a "if you have to ask, I won't talk to you..." attitude. I've bought one gun there about 5 years ago and some accessories. They are pretty expensive for both new and used guns. I took my last CHL renewal there in 2006 and it was a solid class and "full serivce" with prints, notary, range, and guns (if you didn't bring one).
Good day and kudos to DFW Gun.

Re: Range Day in Dallas
Great way to spend a rainy Saturday.

Cougars are shy, reclusive, and downright mysterious...
