Yes indeed, hats off to all of our fighting men and women.
My nephew is coming home from Iraq at the end of this month...having completed his second tour. In my correspondences with him he did not portray things as quite so "dismal", but I'm sure every soldier has his/her own perspective.
I will be certain to show him this letter, and get his "take" on it.
i have one cousin heading up an MP batallion in baghdad, and another working as a navy corpsman out of camp patriot right now. the one in the navy is a civilian police officer, and he's on his third tour overseas since 2003.
one thing i've heard from both of them...it's freaking hot. even the lows are in the 100s. it's starting to cool off at night now though. they're both proud to be there, and i'm proud of them.
Funny how our views of "over there" ebb and flow with what we read and see. Unfortunately, too little of what we read and see are from the boots on the ground and instead are from folks that want to paint a particular picture. It's nice to feel like you're getting the straight scoop. Nice read. Here's a short prayer for every American out there doing what they do for us.
