Gallery of Guns

Post by Katygunnut »

What do you all think of this site? Seems to be the best of both worlds. Low internet prices, and local pick-up point already arranged. Does anyone have experience buying a gun from them? I'd be intereted to hear if there are any complications or problems with the process.

Is that Davidsons?
If so, they have a reputation for having guns that no one else can get, including some exclusive models built just for them.
Their prices are usually pretty easy to beat on more common items.
I don't think I've ever actually placed an order through them, though I've looked a bunch.

I believe it is Davidson's. I like their business model / interface. Basically you find the gun you want, and they will get you quotes from local dealers (can specify the acceptable distance). Basically the same as going to an internet site and then finding an FFL except that it has more of a "one stop shop" feel to it. The dealer price quotes vary wildly ($600 to $800 is typical for the same gun), even though the dealers are all within a 25 mile radius of your location. I tried a few different guns, and the same places kept coming out with the lowest quote (Collectors firearms is consistently the highest BTW). I'm thinking you might be better off just talking to the low cost retailers and having them order the gun you want.

I like them (of course, I'm a bit biased since I am a retailer listed for them). They do offer a lifetime warranty and have a pretty large inventory. But, they are not the cheapest around. I am a new FFL but I have sold several guns I bought from them. I'm in Friendswood and had a guy drive from Katy to pick up two guns he bought online from them. I had the lowest price around and he was going fishing in Galveston so it worked out for both of us.

Davidson's is typically $25 to $30 higher than other distributors which is passed on to the buyers along with a profit mark-up on the higher price. Their inventory is about the same as well, they have very good service to the dealers and promptly ship so typically the item is available for delivery within a day or two, all in all Davidsons is a good outfit and if they have what you want go for it.

Is the $25 to $30 higher after factoring in FFL transfer fees from the other distributors?

Nuts! They don't carry sig.

Also every gun sold by Davidson's, regardless of brand, has a lifetime warranty. Also if you want to try and get a better deal than the website shows go to the dealers they show and ask what they would charge to order you the same gun, sometimes those dealers will give you a better price than the website.
How do you explain a dog named Sauer without first telling the story of a Puppy named Sig?

That was my thought as well. Obviously you can't go wrong with this approach since you can always get the known price by going through the site. I'm thinking there has to be some type of surcharge the dealer could save (and pass through to you) if you just go to them directly, instead of through the site.

I was watching the outdoor channel last night and they were on there. Im not sure if they would be on a channel like that if they didn't have a solid rep.
