Restaurant Recommendation Help
I thought I'd throw this out and see if anyone can help... My wife and I have been riding our motorcycles quite a lot since we got them just a couple of months ago (about 3000 miles in about 10 weeks.) I really enjoy riding the Farm to Market and County Roads and I'm looking for recommendations of good "hole in the wall" restaurants that are off the beaten path. I'd like to keep it within about 100-150 miles from Houston to make it a good day trip.
Any ideas?

Picket house in woodville. Border house style all you can eat.
Best fried chicken.
Should be a nice ride.
Edit: They only serve fried chicken and one other main dish.
Several different sides and desert.
No menu, They bring it to your table.
You remove your own dishes from the table, just like At home.

I love the sound smell of jet fuel in the morning.

It's close to you, but have you tried Gilhooley's in San Leon? Maybe hit it on the way out or on the way back.

Is it Mt Zion or New Zion - years ago we would go for the MOST amazing BBQ and New Zion Baptist Church in Huntsville!
Also if you are going to come this far north... Mels Country Cafe in Tomball!

We like to ride up to Royer's in Round Top. Their specialty is pie. It comes a la mode. They charge you extra if you DON'T want ice cream.
You can get to Hruska's in Ellinger by backroads, and they have some good burgers. We have also found some decent restaurants in Bellville.

Thanks for the recommendations so far... hopefully more will come! At least I've got some ideas on planning some rides with the destination of good food.

Yankees Tavern in Carlos has great steaks and it is a good biker hangout.
Re: Restaurant Recommendation Help
+1 on that. And if you time it right, Lyle Lovett might be there.Divided Attention wrote:

What's the name of the place in Snook where they make the Chicken Fried Bacon? I've never been there, but I've heard nothing but good things. It is close to your mileage limit, I think, but worth a look.

Beat me to it. People come from all over the state to ride to Yankee's. Also, FM 3090/ SH30 area is one of the top rated rides in the state - it gets great reviews from Texas Monthly.soundphreak wrote:Yankees Tavern in Carlos has great steaks and it is a good biker hangout.

Actually it's New Zion Missionary Baptist Church. On FM1374 (just before the 1374 & Sam Houston intersection).Divided Attention wrote:Is it Mt Zion or New Zion - years ago we would go for the MOST amazing BBQ and New Zion Baptist Church in Huntsville!

I was there last Saturday and enjoyed a "2 meat plate". Very tasty.
Re: Restaurant Recommendation Help
I'll recommend Bluebonnet Cafe in Marble Falls. Nice ride and nice eats. Especially the pie!!!
Edit - sorry, but in retrospect, looks like I failed the 150 mile constraint! MF is about 200...
Great pie though!!!
