October PSC-IDPA Match Status

Post by Charles L. Cotton »

The PSC-IDPA match scheduled for this Saturday (10/28/06) will likely have to be cancelled. The rains we've had have the range in poor shape. The IPSC match was held last Saturday in between rains and it had rained off and on all last week, including the flood that made the news. That was pretty hard on the grass and muddy areas were clearly visible when I was at the range just this past Wednesday.

We've had rain several days this week, including a Noah-Class rain for several hours last night. I'm going to the range around 5:00 pm today to check the bays, but I am sure the match will have to be cancelled. The growing season for grass is pretty much over and if we run another large match on the grass that's already soaked and muddy in places, we'll pretty much destroy the grass until next Spring. Then we'll be dealing with mud anytime we have rain before a match. We hate to cancel any match, but I don’t want to be dealing with mud in the bays all Fall and Winter.

Be sure to check BOTH http://www.cottonfamily.com/psc-idpa and the forum section of http://www.TexasIDPA.com (in the PSC-IDPA [Friendswood] Section) to determine the status of the match. The TexasIDPA.com forum section can be updated much faster than the PSC-IDPA website. I’ll really be surprised if we can hold the match, but I don’t know for sure until this afternoon.

I will be sending this message to everyone on my PSC-IDPA Email List, so if you don't get it, then you're not on the list. Send me an email if you want to be added.

Regards,
Chas.

Looks like the Pasadena gun show might be a bit more crowded tomorrow

The news of the cancellation has resulted in a depression that only a gun show can cure...this might get expensive.

I understand Jason and you have my sympathy. I'll be there for you if you need a shoulder, or someone to help you shoot your new gun
