LOCKED Threads

Post by Oldgringo »

Many of us are hear to learn. On occassion, a thread is LOCKED for no given reason.

Wouldn't be helpful to post the reason for the LOCK so that others may know and possibly not create the same or similar transgression? Just askin....

I always thought it meant "in before the lock".

I don't know. :confused5

I assume some posts get deleted for violating the rules before the
thread gets locked which is why it leaves us wondering.

I thought many locked threads were merely duplicats of other threads.

Threads are locked due to rule violations or content that is just too far off base. When I lock a thread generally if you check the posts you will see warnings being given and not being heeded. Yes, any posts that are offensive will have been removed. Offensive posts are generally personal attacks by members against another member.

Basically if I were to post a reason for locking a thread, it would be something like "This thread is locked due to violation of Forum rules." Very generic.

IBTL = in before thread lock

Used as a quick brag on threads that will obviously be deleted or locked, like a new user posting a gun for sale. The poster got "in" on the thread before it was locked.

So... Do you use red or blue ThreadLocker? :evil2:
