Lots of Mags now

Post by terryg »

Ok, so I bought into the hype/fear and ordered up 4 more - 17 round magazines for my SR9c. I wanted to pickup more because I plan to start shooting IDPA and/or USPSA sometime soon. So I was planning on doing it anyway, the recent talk of bans just pushed my timeline up.

Anyway, they arrived this week. Previous to this, I only had three - one 17 rounder and two 10 rounders. Now I have 7 total. I haven't had that many magazines for a weapon before. So what I am wondering is if any of you guys separate your SD mags from range magazines?

I have already tested three I had with my SD ammo to be sure they feed well. But regularly testing all of these with SD ammo would cost quite a few $$$. So it seems like it might make sense to keep them separated. I don't know, what do you think?

Mark all the mags so you can keep track of who's who. I number mine. If a mag will work with ball ammo it will most probably work with sd ammo. Prove the mags with range ammo and then run a few rounds of your sd ammo through them to assure they will function. Quality OEM mags are less likely to give problems than the "aftermarket" mags.

I guess I'm on the hype train too. I just made the folks at Midway pretty happy last week with a really big order that was mostly mags.

+1

I just got 10 pmags, 8 XD Mags, 8 G23 Mags, and 10 AK mags... Nothing like upping each firearm's mag count by 33% in one swoop.

I guess I'll brag a little too  . I got:

12 - AR-15 Pmags
12 - Surplus AK47 mags
10 - KCI M1A mags
10 - AR-10 mags
4 - PS90 mags
3 - Glock 21 mags

Plus a VLTOR stock for my M1a SOCOM, one of the new Nikon AR223 1-4 power scope, and a few other odds and ends. :tiphat:

Mr. Potterfield needs to write me a special thank you note.

***Edit to add this is my 1000th post! It only took me about five years to do what most everyone else does in one but I believe in quality not quantity. :coolgleamA:

IF i had any money I would buy some mags just to have them.

Anybody wanna subsidize my needs for .45 mags and AR mags. :biggrinjester:

I have a stack of 9mm Glock mags, a pile of loaded AR mags in a grab bag(30 30round mags), and maybe 8-10 loaded AK mags. I need more FAL mags and I plan on maybe dumping my AK47 and mags as a package for a 74 and get more mags.

Good quality/factory mags for most handguns are expensive in my eyes. Just about every factory handgun magazine cost $30 and up :cryin

I added a "hi-cap" mag a little while back too. Been wanting one for one of my firearms and some politicians this last month gave me enough nudge to purchase one. If money weren't a bit tight I would have added more for my others.

I've been socking mags away a few at a time when I could afford it over the past few years--I don't think a ban is likely but neither do I think it is out of the question.

I consider half a dozen mags to be minimal for a firearm. I have around 50 AR-15 mags, 25 AK mags, about 40 9mm Glock mags (20x17rd, 10x15rd, 5x33rd), plus assorted others for guns I have or plan to have.

I am thinking this year we may elect Obama "Mag Salesman of the Year". :biggrinjester:

I have yet to buy any since the hype started but may soon. My main point of waiting is the election in 2012. If he starts pushing mag cap ban support I may get some but the majority of my money will go to groups and candidates to make sure he and every single elected official that calls for any new restrictions do not get re/elected. That is called a preemptive strike and seems a much more effective use of my money than paying for mags. Well that and the fact the House would not pass any ban.

I own mags for guns I do not own, because I remember seeing NIW G20 mags sell for $130 in the dark years (1994-2004).
