South Dakota lawmakers have submitted a bill which would require all South Dakota residents 21 or over to purchase a gun for self defense purposes, unless they are barred from gun ownership by law.

My view on this: the individual States have the right to create an individual mandate to purchase a product or service, such as auto or health insurance. The Federal government has no such right.
