Looking ahead to 08......
So, looking ahead to 08, it seems that Sen McCain is back in the race:

To be honest, I don't know much about him, other than he appears to be on the "fence" on a lot of issues. My question is, where does he stand on the 2nd Amendment, AWB, and other gun related issues?

He is not our friend. He was the Senate sponsor of the Campaign Finance Reform Act and during debate on the Senate floor, referred to it as the "get the NRA bill." He also supports requiring background checks at gun shows.AggieMM wrote:So, looking ahead to 08, it seems that Sen McCain is back in the race:

Exactly!
Spartans ask not how many, but where!
Re: Looking ahead to 08......
He hasn't been a supporter of the 1st ammendment, It would be surprising to find him a strong supporter of the 2nd. One either believes the constitution is the law of the land or they don't. Senator McCain is in the "Don't" catagory.AggieMM wrote: To be honest, I don't know much about him, other than he appears to be on the "fence" on a lot of issues. He was a high profile liberal prosecutor. I've never seen a Dem DA that was pro-RKBA. In his eyes all guns are bad.RPBrown wrote:I've heard tak of Rudy Gulliani. Does anyone know his stance on 2A? As former mayor of PRNY is he an anti?

Since it is Veteran's Day could we hold off on bashing and honorable Veteran until tomorrow?
Persanally I don't use a single "litmus test" to determine whether a candidate is worthwhile or not. I'll reserve my judgement until I see who's on the Ballot.
I'd much prefer a John McCain to a Clinton of any Variety.

Back to a healthy debate on presidential conteders...

Our Bill of rights isn't some minor point of contention. Both Clintons and McCain have sworn to uphold our constitution. Mc Cain openly sponsered and got put into law limitations on political speech. he can't be trusted at all.
I know there is more than one side to every issue. I assume the first ammendment issues you are reffering to are his efforts at campaign finance reform.Liberty wrote:Sorta like prefering Stalin over Hitler.KRM45 wrote:Since it is Veteran's Day could we hold off on bashing and honorable Veteran until tomorrow?

I think there is great bennefit to having politicians in office that are there to represent the people, rather than to vote the way the big corporation that got them elected wants them to vote. Perhaps in trying to implement that the Congress (as usual) has run amuck of some other right.
I don't know all the facts, or the entire history of his voting record, but I see McCain as a Moderate Republican who stands up for what he belives in, and has a long history of faithful public service.
I'm not saying he has my vote, but I won't vote against him until I see a better option.
