need help concerning history and value of firearm

Post by needgunhelp »

I have a Armi San Marco 1847 Colt Walker .44 cal black powder pistol. The pistol has never been fired, and has a serial number of TMV016. It is in a dark green box, and has a book included. The book is titled "The Colt Whitneyville-Walker Pistol", written by Lt. Col. Robert D. Whittington, III. The book also has the serial number of the pistol written in the copy number section of the title page. On top of the pistol it says "Whittington Arms, Hooks, Texas", and on the left side it says "First Regiment Texas Mounted Voluteers" I am hoping to get a history, and approximate value on this piece. I am in Florida, however, since the pistol has Texas imprinted upon it, I thought this would be the proper place to ask for information concerning this piece. Thanks in advance for any and all information.

Well, Gunbroker had one that just sold last month for $333.

Your best bet is to watch the auction sites to find current value. It's not how much it's worth, it's how much someone will pay for it. :coolgleamA:
