Buying 14.5 AR barrel w/o violating NFA and buying stamp
I was wondering if anyone knows about purchasing a 14.5 inch AR-15 barrel without violating NFA requirements or having to buy a tax stamp? I’m just trying get the parts ready to build but I am not going to be able to get it finished before I have to ship out to Fort Benning. Any further knowledge about this would be extremely helpful.

You have to have a flash hider permanently attached to the barrel that increases the barrel length to over 16". It can be blind pinned or high temperature silver solder or welded. Technically you can not have possession of a stocked lower and a barrel less than 16 inches or it is considered constructive possession of a short barreled rifle.

If you only own/possess "pistol" AR lowers, there should be no issues with a 14.5" (or shorter) barreled upper. Otherwise, I personally would wait for the tax stamp before purchasing a SBR upper or barrel. It's safer that way but, as always, YMMV.
