Ok, I'll wait... if I have to

Well, I finally decided to post in here. I took my class back on the 23 of Sept. and mailed the packet on Monday, which would have been the 25th. I received a letter in the mail last week. Expecitng that it was my PIN, I started getting really excited  ... only to find out that it was to inform me that my Certification number was identical to another students and my app had been placed on hold. So I called up my Instructer per the instructions in the letter and they took care of the issue and faxed whatever they needed to back to Austin. Apparently somebody screwed up and the last number was wrong. So, here I am, 51 days after dropping it in the mail, and I still haven't received my PIN. It's of course my luck. My parents should have named me Murphy. I'm just hoping I get the plastic before Christmas. Probably won't happen, but thats my goal anyways.

UPDATE: Well I finally found some time to shoot an email to the DPS about my app and PIN about an hour ago. Expecting that it would take at least a day to hear anything back, I nearly pooed myself with excitement when a response showed up ten minutes later. Here was their response:
"Your PIN number is ####. We are waiting for your background check to
come back so we can issue your license. "

Checked the website... WOOHOO "Processing application"!!!!!

To me it seems that this check is the final step in the process. Is that right? It would seem that the 60 day start over didn't happen.

UPDATE: I emailed the fine folks at the DPS about my background check being finished yet and they wrote back:
Your license should be issued out within the next week or two.

Is this a normal standard response? Or does it seem like the truth?
The anticipation is now killing me. I feel like everybody is carrying except me

Oh well, I'm getting closer!!!

Honestly, I don't put too much faith in what they or the website say.

I was told it would be 1-2 weeks, turned out to be another 4.
When it did show up, the website said "processsing". HA!

Patience. Think of it as 'Character-building'.
It will be here before you know it.

I'm with you. I just got back from Academy Sports. They had the Remington UMC 250 round box of 9mm on sale for $36.00. I didn't really need more ammo, but couldn't resist.

I feel your pain also.

I mailed in on September 18 and I will be standing on the sidewalk in a couple of hours waiting on the Letter Carrier for my plastic. My status changed from "processing...." to "application complete: License isssued....." on Tuesday early AM.

Good luck
