It's not much of a "carry" gun, but oh so fun to shoot. I just couldn't resist adding it to the stable. S&W 625 JM .45acp

Very nice!! A few years ago, before she became a convert to semi-automatics, I purchased a model 325 PD for my wife. Unfortunately, due to the snub barrel and the scandium/titanium construction, it was not a very pleasant gun to shoot. She then became an SA convert to carry concealed, and we sold the 325 PD. The 625 JM looks like it would be wonderful for quick revolver shooting, though. Plenty of weight, good sight radius, good grips and moon clips... what's not to like?

Thanks M A Russ, I agee, not much to not like. I could do without the JM on the grip, other than that I wouldn't change a thing. The Double Action pull is so slick it will suprise you during tansition and aquisition if you aren't careful. LOL Almost like shooting single action. And the trigger pull in single action mode,??? forget about it, just breath on it.

Yes it does, I admire the man and try to take his tips and tricks when I can, they (S&W) just got carried away with the intials, they are on the stainless and the wood.

How is shooting the .45 out of a revolver compared to a .38+p or a .357mag? I have no experience with a .45 revolver but lots with the .357/.38+p just wondering about a comparison. Beautiful revolver by the way . Is that piece from the S&W Performance Center?

It is a large frame,so it has lest bite than a .357 maybe more like a 38 +p but not quite. Have you ever shot a 1911 vs a compact 9mm ? The .45 revolver has some umph to it, but not uncontrolable. All I have shot through it so far is 230 gr wwb. They have more punch than others, and it is very controlable. I'm not as fast with it yet on the steel as I a wth the 1911, but I am being cautious since I only have 6 shots. As pointed out to me by a great competitor here I need to increase left hand hold pressure. When I can do that ...which I am not used to, She hits where I point her and delivers a wallop.

Now, in comparison, the revolver has a tad more push/recoil than the 1911, however, less muzzle flip .

Nice description . I am familiar with the characteristics of the 1911 and shoot one frequently. I have eye-balled that same pistol for a while now. Beautiful piece and happy shooting.

Sorry for all the typos, my keyboard is getting fried.

You are able to ride up higher on the grip with the revolver, so it really reduces muzle flip whereas the 1911 stops you at the beavertail. Make sense? So it makes percieved recoil a bit more since it is absorbed straight back rather than up.

What I remember enjoying the most about my long departed Model 25 in ACP was the quick reload using the full moon clips. And the rapid extraction, since the weight of all six cases together were helping each other out of the cylinder. It was a wonderful revolver.

Had I had it after CHL's were available, I might still have it.
