MTAC in DFW

Post by DFWTT »

I'm looking for an MTAC for my G22, in the DFW area. Anyone have a good idea where I might find both the leather and the slide (open bottom) kydex body for use with the slimmer Glocks, i.e. 17,19,22,23.....and so on? Looking for in-stock at a local store. I used the search engine and could not find good info. Thanks in advance. :tiphat:

I know that the G19 and G26 and G17 fit in the same kydex, I wonder if the G22 fits the same as any others as well, only suggesting this to be able to widen your search parameters a bit?

Yes the same kydex body for all of the 9mm, 4osw and 357sig. I'm looking for the open bottom so my 22 with a threaded barrel will fit through. I was looking into the Tucker for my G21 and came to the realization that they do not have interchangeability for kydex bodies on the same holster frame. How wide would I have to expand my search area? DFW being about a 30 to 50mi oblong radius, I suppose I can go as far as Tyler or Denton and south to Waco. You get the idea. I realize I can get one online but would rather not.

I know you are in Dallas area, but The Arms Room in League City carriers some Comp-Tac gear.

NO- I am not saying drive to League City, nor am I suggesting calling them and ordering it.
I am however suggesting, that if you haven't yet tried it, I would be there is at least 1 "good" shop that would have some in stock.
Would they have the one you need? that is to yet be unseen.
Good luck with your search :tiphat:

Thanks, I called them earlier and he only had a CTAC with the slide body. The next closest one is in Sherman and then Austin. Going to order online I suppose.

I have the MTAC Minotaur for my G27. Usually, a holster for a .40 Glock will work with any of the other .40's. However, the bottom of the kydex on the Minotaur is turned in and will not allow the G22 or G23 to properly fit in place. I should have gotten the one for the G22 and then either of mine would have fit.

Just pick up what Comptac calls the "slide" body. It accomodates all versions even the extended ones. You can put the body on your existing frame as they are interchangeable.

a hair dryer and pair of plyers, 2 minutes, fold out that turned in kydex.
thats how we did it with my minataur that was for my XD9sc, and put my BIL's XDM 4.5 in it.

I had the same problem at the time when I was shooping for that style. No one around here had any Comptac hybrid styles, and they're a local company. I then found a guy with Tucker's hybrid model and after being allowed to step into the restroom and try one on I ended up wearing it out of the store.

I have a brand spanking new MTAC for a Glock 19. I bought it and a supertuck from the place where I took my chl class because I didnt know which one I would like better.... took them home, tried them out and liked the supertuck better... went to return it and they said "sorry, no returns or exchanges..." So it is just sitting here gathering dust. I have been keeping it because I wanted to do a youtube review comparing the two. (one of my hobbies) I could make you a good deal on it :)
