We went. We bought. We conquered.

Mom & I drove north of Houston to do some Christmas shopping today. (We both are nearly done.)
It was packed & we were both very watchful, but I didn't run across any suspicious characters today. Usually on busy days, someone will venture too close into my personal space, or generally act strangely, but most were focused on their own shopping and didn't display behaviors associated with criminal behavior.
A good day.

Yeah, there always seems to be a few creeps out there on busy days.

Most likely they're just normal people who have been pushed to the limits of their shopping capacity!

Do you find yourself guarding your piece a bit more when it's busy out there? After all the hugging over the Thanksgiving holiday, I did lots of 'guarding.' My sister would flip if she found out I carried.

Most of my relatives know already.

I do guard my piece a little better in more crowded conditions. I'm more watchful; I don't want a BG catching me unprepared. It would be easier to do in a crowded setting.

I had a guy walk up to and stand in line behind me. He started talkin about the crowd and why it was so bad an I let him know that the day after Thanksgiving is the biggest shopping day of the year. I felt a little taken aback by his apparent ignorance, and the smeel of alcohol emminating from him was raising my alert level. Then he said that he had just gotten off of work at the Olive Garden next door. Riiiiiight. Unless he is the Vino taste tester, he just got off of a bottle of Bud. He kept crowding me and made me feel a little uncomfortable. I have been around people like this before who are from the other side of the tracks but are trying to be as personable as possible, so I played along and talked to him for a while. I never let my gaurd down though. Everytime he looked away, I would glance at him closer and try to size him up for the just in case scenario. I kept my wallet side away from him at all times and kept my strong hand empty of items incase I needed to repay an aggressive motion. ;-) I don't have my CHL yet, so I definately couldn't rely on my handgun, sine it was snuggled nicely in my closet at home. None the less, I stayed ready for anything. Luckily, the event went without incident, and I was on my way.

It's fine to talk, but you were wise to keep both eyes open.
