That Girl has a Gun!

Post by 2up1down »

That Girl has a Gun,,, and she knows how to use it.

My thirteen year old Daughter accompanied me today for a holster building session for a friend of ours.

Since my friend had not fired a sub compact Kel-Tec PF9 before
I ask him if he would like to run some rounds down range.

Well he lives out in the forest so we stepped off the porch and proceeded
to severely punish a water bottle with an appropriate back stop.

Macalah being the dutiful Daughter she is, was kind enough to reload magazines
and once she was coached on range rules, sight picture, and trigger press,
she started smacking the snot out of that water bottle at about 8 yards!
The best Father's Day was seeing my little girl fire a pistol, deadly accurate, for the first time.

Now I'm in the market for a PINK Pistol. Arrrgghhh.

Thank you Sir, she was looking hard at my XDm .45 when we were shooting it. Maybe I can convince Momma that we need another XDm,,,, they don't come in pink!

...I've broken in two little wimmen in their early 20s with a Ruger P90...they both hit real well and loved it...first gun they ever shot...she can handle the .45 as well maybe better than the snappier nine...the larger XD would help her with recoil more than the baby-sized 9s...

Congratulations! That's great, and your teaching her and encouraging her involvement is to be commended. :tiphat: She'll get a lot of self-confidence from this. She's also getting a taste of both sides of the activity -- the "work" side (reloading the mags) and the fun part (shooting).

Very kind words, thank you.

Also very astute observation about learning to reload before you learn to shoot.

There are six of us in our family and one of the axioms that all of the girls understand and live by is,
"If you want to eat... You have to work". Everyone has age/experience appropriate
task that are completed as a team in everything we do.

We are doing our best to raise 4 strong women who are proud to be citizens of our great republic
and that requires each of them to not only be able to defend themselves, but their beliefs.
