Anger management 101: How to turn $100 ticket into a felony

Post by seamusTX »

In Dickinson, Galveston County, Wednesday a 29-year-old Alvin man was in municipal court to respond to a citation for driving through a private parking lot to bypass a traffic signal.

The judge found the defendant guilty and fined him $105 plus court costs (pretty light, if you ask me).

The defendant reportedly complained that he was unemployed and broke.

The judge told him to shut up or he would be held in contempt of court.

“Basically he told the judge [a common obscenity], he was unemployed and was going to leave the country and join al-Qaida,” [a police spokesman] said. “We did call the FBI, and they didn’t have anything on [him].”

The judge then increased the fine to $200.

The defendant started laughing. Officers moved to restrain him. The defendant then allegedly kicked a male officer in the groin and tried to flee. After he was arrested he allegedly threatened another officer. He was charged with two felonies in relation to assaulting and threatening officers. His bond was set at $100,000.

Have you seen the movie Idiocracy? With stories like this, it seems less a comedy and more of a horror movie. ;-)

The intro to that movie is prophetic.
I am not a lawyer, nor have I played one on TV, nor did I stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night, nor should anything I say be taken as legal advice. If it is important that any information be accurate, do not use me as the only source.

The scary thin is that movie makes the point that dumb people breed more than smart people. At some point there will be a tipping point where we smart people (the good majority in the US) will be overtaken by the Jersey Shores of America. I can see it now "The Situation 2028 with Vice President JWow" if that thought dose not scare you I don't know what will. Show me one person in here who would vote for Snookie over Obama.

That's not much of a choice. Let me see.......

^^^^^^^^^^^I'd consider Al Gore over Obama right now, so Snookie would be a "shoe-in".
