First time out today.

Post by Dadiggla »

Well I got my plastic today and went to work. I wore my Witness 10 mm compact in my Packin T. Concealed excellently, wife says she couldnt tell and she watched me put it on. Now...I do alot of walking around. That T is HOT! Also after about an hour or so I noticed that the muzzle was rubbing just above my hip bone. I wore it for close to 4 hours by the time I got home. My side was really red. I want to order the super tuck but when I get my XD 40 sc. That will be my EDC. But what can I do till then? I have to tuck my shirt in. This gun doesnt conceal too well with my build IWB. When I tuck my shirt I get the V shape.
Thanks in advance.

what position are you carrying it in?
I find I can get a better handle on the weapon if it is at 3:00, but I feel more comfortable at about 4:30 or 5:00.

Have you tried an under shirt under your holster?

10 mm? in Round Rock?
My wrist could no longer handle 10mm ... sold my 10mm Glock,
If you need 10mm ammo, PM me, I had a drawer full, and traded the drawer full of ammo to a guy in Burnet who was going to sell it but his deal fell through; so he might sell it or trade for something. It was on consignment in a display case at a gun store in Marble Falls for a month, but not much Demand for 10mm in Marble Falls area..... you might end up with a real bargain. IIRC probably 20-30 boxes various brands all factory loaded hollow points, some full power, some FBI type reduced power loads etc etc

If you aren't interested, no problem, he'll get a booth a a gun show and sell or trade it

Dadiggla,

I carry my XD 40 SC in a Minotaur MTAC IWB at 3 - 4 o'clock. You are correct about the rubbing but a T-shirt take care of that.

The packin T is an undershirt in itself. I thought about a tank Tshirt under that but its already too hot.
I'm still fidgeting with position. Feels ok at 3-4 posiotions but it just seems so big there and that makes me "feel" uncomfortable thinking its not concealing.
Guessing that feeling will subside with time tho.

 I live in Round Rock but work in East Austin sometimes. If I could carry a M4 there, I would. I will definitely pm you on the rest. Thanks for the info.

IIRC = If I Remember Correctly

As far as an undershirt between you and the holster - in SE Texas - or maybe Texas in general it is a must! Try the underarmour type that are "wicking". They are comfortable, and the heat gear don't add to the "heat". Don't know how I ever did without them. You can even find them in "cammie" style, but you guy types probably don't care about that style.

I couldn't shake the bad feeling the Witness gave me. The only time I was comfortable wearing it was in the small of my back holsterless. I think i was sweating so bad because i was so worried about someone seeing it. So I went and bought the XD40 3" and the soft tuck and problem solved. I barely see it so I know it's good to go. Thanks for the tips. I'm gonna try the under armor too.

Thanks! I had to Google "OEM" today to figure out what it means. Because of my profession, I am inundated with abbreviations and strange writing symbols. I guess I just have not worried about a lot of abbreviations dealing with other things.
