CHL Policy............

Post by Jim101 »

I'm sure most have seen this at Gun Shows, pay $129 a year have a card with a number to call 24X7 if you shoot someone....A justified shooting..They only cover the Grand Jury part( could be a few thousand), not what happens after that..Anyone a member? Or have an opinion about it??
Some of us are getting ready to join..

Thanks,

Jim

I'd probably save my money, and steer clear of this legal support...

So if all you get for $129 is a business card with a number on it you can call for help in a "grand jury" proceeding "only"...And they are not all that clear about follow up representation if it goes to trial???

Run fast, run far my friend...

The NRA has some sort of legal support system setup for its members that choose to pay into it...I saw the booth at the convention here a whilw back...From what I can recall (the flyer is at home) its a lot cheaper that this deal...And offers more inclusive representation, and people who are probably on the top notch concerning this issue...

Also...

Pre-paying for legal representation is a good thing, but you should disguise its intent, because getting a "special lawyer" for a shooting incident could be misconstrued as premeditation...

"...You were so prepared to shoot someone, you felt it necessary to obtain legal support before the incident..."

Thats how twisted it could get...

I doubt a criminal lawyer would charge too much money to help you prepare a statement after a shooting incident. If the shooting was clean then you won't need to worry much about a grand jury.

At $129 a year, and the high unlikeliness of a shooting, I'd say you're better of keeping your money and just paying a good lawyer to help you if the need arises.

Just my opinion though.

I am a member of the NRA and will check them out also.....So, I'm guessing that not many have a policy like this one..

David Dixon - CHL Protection Plan Director

I've heard of this guy before...I can't put a finger on what it was about him right this second, but what I vaguely recall, was a fairly neutral portrayal of this individual...

I'd still remain clear of this firm...

If I were a lawyer and I was going after somebody that used a firearm in a maybe not so cut and dry case, I might use the fact that the shooter in question had that insurance against him/her in court.

Ladies and Gentleman of the Jury, it's clear that the defendant knew he would shoot somebody one day, he even has insurance for it, therefore he had no reason NOT to shoot.

Some juror might just buy that.

Thats why I would probably not take this route...

Why challenge the jury pools today with information that could be twisted by a "tough, smart, ambulance chaser" to work against you...When it was intended to not be for that purpose...

This is hilarious.

It reminds of that e-mail that has the list of "ways you can tell you are a houston native"

One of them was "you can properly pronounce 'kuykendall' "
