Ruger's glass-filled nylon grips - a little background.

Of all the polymer guns, it seems to be that Ruger is alone in using "Glass-filled nylon" grip frames.

Initially I thought that Ruger may have used GFN simply for aesthestics in look and grip feel, but GFN appears to
stand up better to high heat and chemicals than maybe what the other gunmakers are using for their polymer
grip frames.

Carrying our firearms in hot Texas weather exposes them to personal and climactic humidity, and I would think
any polymer gun should stand up OK, but it seems GFN is even tougher.

Comments? Anyone know anymore about GFN firearms? Is Ruger the only maker to use GFN?

I don't know the answer to your question, but I know my SR9 grip feels entirely different form the grips on my other guns.

I second the comment on the SR9. I love the feel of my SR9C...though I had never thought about the fact that the material may have something to do with it.
