New unfired Kel-Tec P3AT Slide cracked

Post by getnit1 »

I bought a new Kel-Tec P3AT yesterday. I went to a friends house we were comparing mine and his (his first generation and my second generation). While looking at the two I noticed my slide was cracked. I had not fired this pistol yet. And it appears that it has not been fired, my gundelaer had 2 of them. One was on display and this one was in one of his safes NIB. I sent Kel-Tec an E-mail with a picture. I'll let everyone know what happens when I hear from them.

Wow. Please do keep us updated. I just fired my Christmas present for the first time today; next purchase will be a Springfield XD45; then a Kel-Tec was next up on my wish list. Sometimes clothing requirements demand a pocket gun.

If not Kel-Tec, there's still NA and Seecamp to consider.

That something like that could get through Kel-Tec's quality controls doesn't speak well of...well, their quality controls.

Why not take the K-T back to the dealer and save yourself some time, postage, and aggravation? Either he'll make it right, or the credit card company will.

I bought a shotgun many years ago from Wal-Mart and when it would fail to release the hammer the next day I took it back. They told me that since the firearm had been transferred it had to go back to the manufacturer. The did say they would pay for all shipping but they could not just swap it out. I don't know if this is just Wal-Marts policy or if there are laws that have to do with this. Also I paid for the Kel-Tec with cash. So filing on my credit card won't work either.

Not anymore surprised than to discover the the "night sights" I had them install came back with NO tritium in one of the rear dots, and the front sight was so dim you could only faintly make it out in a dark closet holding it about a foot from your face.

Don't get me started.
