Class B misdemeanor?

Class B misdemeanor?
I had a Class B misdemeanor, Criminal Mischief, back in 2005. I went to court and got put on 1 year probation and fined $200. The disposition date was 5/01/07. I have done everything I need to do and am now wanting to get a CHL. I took the class today and thought I would be okay…..but just wanted to make sure before I dropped another $140 on it. Does anyone have an answer?
Re: Class B misdemeanor?
I think a Class B misdemeanor is a 5 year deferral, which would mean you would be eligible in May of 2012.

Unless they changed it, the class is good for 2 years so you should be good and not have to remake it

Hold on until we get some more confirmation. I'm fairly sure I'm right on the 5 years, but there could be some detail I've overlooked. As far as the paperwork goes, you might be able to just hold on to it and send it in after 5-1-12. I think it might be good for up to a year and the class must have been taken within six months of sending the paperwork in, but let's wait for one of the more scholarly litigious members whose legalese is better than mine.BBoren wrote:That sucks I think I wasted $85, and alot of my time for NOTHING!!!, Thanks for the reply I guess I will just have to wait……How long is the paperwork good for until I send it in will I have to retake the class again in May 2012?

You're right about the five years. The OP should wait, assuming he hasn't applied online yet. I'm not sure how that works for temporary bars to eligibility. Is the date of application when you pay online or when DPS has a complete application including CHL-100 and fingerprints?C-dub wrote:Hold on until we get some more confirmation. GC §411.172. ELIGIBILITY.
(a) A person is eligible for a license to carry a concealed handgun if the person:
(8) has not, in the five years preceding the date of application, been convicted of a Class A or Class B misdemeanor or an offense under Section 42.01, Penal Code;
sent to you from my safe space in the hill country
Re: Class B misdemeanor?
The online application is good for 1 year from the date you paid money to DPS.
The class completion form (CHL-100) is good for 2 years.
Class B misdemeanor is a disqualifier for 5 years from the date of conviction, not the date of the offense.
If you have already applied online, complete your application by sending in your class completion paperwork after 05/01/2012.
