Interesting expierience at Walmart

Post by Daltex1 »

Went to Walmart on 12/27 and was there to get some 223 ammo, told the guy I wanted 10 boxes, he said that he only had 6 boxes left because the rest of that ammo had been packed up and was on its way to Iraq.Sounds like something big is about to go down over there, pretty sad that walmart is having to supply our soldiers ammo.

Thats very interesting indeed, I wonder if its true though I have been told by walmart employees a lot of things that are never true.

I doubt Uncle Sam is buyin ammo from Uncle Walton.

It could be a purchase from any number of private contractors.

It could also be the clerk was ill-informed.

10 year old daughter rule prevents me from stating what he is probably full of it.

The US Military gets .223 ammo from Alliant Tech (ATK stock symbol). Not Wally World.
My posts on this website are worth every cent you paid me for them.

You said he stated it was going to Iraq, did he specify it was going to OUR soldiers?

Walmart's ammo prices has definitely gone way up in just the past few month. I mean in the range of 25%-50% increase. Believe it or not, for a long while Walmart was the cheapest.

However, they are convenient and stores seem to be about 1 every 5 miles around here.

WheySmart & j1132,
Where are you getting your ammo?
I typically buy mine at Wal-Mart or Academy, but my problem with Wal-Mart is that they often don't have anything in stock.
If there's a cheaper place to buy it, I'd like to know.

The NRA & TSRA are a bargain; they're much cheaper than the cold, dead hands experience.

I get mine at WallyWorld. I can't beat a 100rd brick of .40 for $17.98 anywhere else.

As for them going to Iraq, you should have asked him his name. I'll bet it was Iraq.

Up until a few months ago, I buy Winchester USA 9mm ammo at Walmart exclusively because they were only $4 something per box. The trick to buying at Walmart is to special order it. I normally order 2 or 4 cases at a time. You have to prepay the special order, but it usually comes within 3 days.

However, Walmart is so expensive now that I hardly go there anymore. Here's where I'm buying:

1. 9mm - Academy Blazer at $4.*
2. .40s&w - Walmart Blazer brass at $7.* (but haven't bought it for a while, so prices may have gone up here)
3. .45acp - Cabelas S&B/Fiochi at $9.*
4. .22lr - Mail order

Academy has Monarch 9mm cheaper than Blazer, but I don't like those. One thing I'm glad is that I've cut my pistol calibers down to just the 4 above. This really helped cut costs.

If you know of a cheaper place, please let me know. I shoot way too much so a little saving can mean a lot of $$$.

I paid $5.69 plus tax for 9 mm CCI Blazer (115 gr. FMJ) at Academy in Galveston last week.
