HELP! Do I need this gun?

Post by magillapd »

I got the sales flyer for my local Cabelas yesterday. In it they have for sale russian surplus Mosin-Nagint rifles for $99 (Inculdes the bayonet)

I was in the store on Monday and they were on clearence for $149 and I was tempted then, but $99!! What to do?!?!

I have been saving my money for a new ham radio that I've been wanting so I have more then enough to get it, but should I bother? Is a piece of history worth $99?

*sigh* I'm not sure if I want to get it or not.

Edit- maybe this should have gone in the rifles & shotguns

My question to you is, which will you get more use/enjoyment from? Often we acquire things on the spur of the moment that turn out not to be all we think they'll be.

I'm sure I'd get use and enjoyment from the gun, definatly the radio(which I'm still getting regardless). I already own a British Enfield 303, so I guess the Mosin-Nagint would be a good addition. Now, if I could get my hands on a good condition M1 grand for $99 that would be a no brainer!

I guess the main question is how easy/cheap is it to find ammo for this gun?

Pretty easy & cheap, if you don't mind surplus corrosive ammo. Moderately easy and a medium cost if you want new, non-corrosive ammo.

Also, you'll want a recoil pad.

Just called the one by me and that is it. He said there are a dozen on the shelves and thinks there is another box in the back. $99 starting tomorrow!

now my question is, will they honor their 7 day price guarantee policy if i buy it today. i just might have to check and see about that.

I'm saving up for a Kenwood TS-2000!

I have a Kenwood TM-V71A as my "base" radio right now & Yaesu FT-7900 in the car and a Wouxon KG-UV3D for my HT.

That's the one that I went to on Monday. It's too bad that I'm at work till 10, because if the price match was in effect, that'd be great.

I may get up early and drive up there. IF there is one on the rack I may buy it.
