Critical Duty

Post by Seabear »

Just got a RAVE review from one my my LGS that saw first hand tests of this ammo next to Speer Gold Dot. He said in all fairness the Gold Dot had equal marks until it came to going through two layers of sheet metal (car door) and fired at 45 angle to glass like a windshield. He said the Gold Dot couldn't do the glass test and keep trajectory where as the CD could. Very interesting conversation.

Interesting ... I was wondering when Hornady would come out with something like this, using the Critical Defense bullet in a stouter load

When he was telling me about it, he didn't mention that it was intended for Full Size weapons, he just remembered them saying it would come in 50 round boxes since most LEO needed that (more or less) for a load out. He did have pictures he took at the demo on his iPhone that were VERY impressive. I'll look forward to getting some. :woohoo

Edit: Although after looking at their site I don't see anything about 50 boxes. Maybe he was mistaken, he was so pumped, they had been to Shot Show and to the Armsport? demo in Dallas. He said the deal in Dallas was super cool, they shot everything there imaginable for 6 hours. He said there was about 200 guns there with unlimited ammo. He came away liking guns he used to frown on, and wanting to dump some good sellers he had never shot and decided they were junk after shooting them. Needless to say I was there a while.

Only question I had for him was . "Why wasn't I invited?

Midway has it on backorder in 9mm, 9mm+p, and .40 S&W in 25 round boxes.

Sorry, the .40 S&W comes in 20 round boxes, not 25.

Still, it looks like the 9mm standard pressure might be just what I'm looking for for my Hi-Power.

I was just going to ask about that because I couldn't find it either. They do make it in the FTX version for shorter barrels, but not for the full size guns. So, once I get my G30 I may load it with this stuff.
I am not and have never been a LEO. My avatar is in honor of my friend, Dallas Police Sargent Michael Smith, who was murdered along with four other officers in Dallas on 7.7.2016.
