Decisions - Decisions
Plan to buy a new pistol over the weekend.
Choice A - Glock 19, Gen 4, night sights.
Choice B - Sig E2022-9-BSS. 15 +1, night sights. The reason I am leaning towards this one is it is 'easily' converted to single action/double action (according to mfg.). Not sure what 'easily' means.
Similar sizes, close to same weights.
Looking for imput.
Thanks....

If the 2nd admendment only applies to muskets and muzzle-loaders, then the 1st admentment must apply only to the spoken or printed word. Printing must be done on hand presses, news stories must be written in longhand, no keyboards or electric processes may be used.

Re: Decisions - Decisions
The only advice I can offer is that if one of them feels better in your hand, that is the one to go with and if at all possible, try and shoot each model before buying. Good luck and I am sure whichever you decide will serve you well.

Re: Decisions - Decisions
Looks like the Sig has a 10 lb trigger pull for DA, so you will be dealing with either that for the first shot or (if you convert to DA only) all shots. According to the specs on the Glock, it has only 5.5 lb trigger pull. If that's not an issue, no problem.
(Just to clarify... the Sig shows you can convert from DA/SA to DAO.)

BUT Sig claims a 4.4 lb. pull when not in DAO.

You may be misunderstanding how it works. If you cock the hammer and fire it is 4.4 lbs pull. If you leave the hammer down and use the trigger to fire the gun it is 10lbs, the follow up shots will be 4.4lbs. Converting it to DAO would mean it is 10lbs all the time, including the follow up shots.StewNTexas wrote:BUT Sig claims a 4.4 lb. pull when not in DAO.

Re: Decisions - Decisions
The Glock is simply a better firearm than the polymer-framed Sig. Certainly Sig's steel guns are stellar, arguably best in the world. But their plastic guns have always lagged behind a bit. Glock all but invented the plastic gun ( certainly "Perfected" it) and despite a few early hiccups with new recoil spring design in Gen 4, the Glock 19 is one of the best, most proven handguns in the world. This should be a no brainer.
And if want to tweak your trigger, there are infinite possibilities for Glock triggers - from 2.5-pound competition only triggers to 12-pound NYPD lawyer-inspired triggers and everything in between.

Re: Decisions - Decisions
Our own Robert Burke, a Sig armorer, can take care of that trigger pull for you on the Sig. The single action may be 4+ lbs, but if you have the SRT put it, you barely move the trigger back and forth to fire. Like Glock, the trigger possibilities are endless. Here is a common comment I hear about Sigs: "I shot the first DAO shot and thought, not bad... but what's the big deal. Then I shot the SA and I was in heaven."My suggestion would be to rent one first, they aint cheap.

Re: Decisions - Decisions
I have the G19 and my wife has the SigPro 2340 (.40 cal, but the older version of the 2022)
I can shoot both pretty good, but I like the feel of the Glock better. The sigs barrel is higer off the rail then in the Glock, and I do not like the DA/SA trigger at all.
I prefer the Glock but can still hit target with both. Try to shoot both if you can, then decide.

Re: Decisions - Decisions
It looks like I need to do a better job of reading. I went over the 2022 specs again, and it indicates that it comes from the factory with the single/double action set as 'normal', and it can be converted to DAO 'easily'. It doesn't say anything about converting it back, but I would assume it could be.
My problem in trying each before making a final decision is due to where I live. Here in the Corpus Christi area I have not been able to find any for rent. Due to the Christmas season being busy, most retailers are out of almost everything, and I suppose they were waiting for the SHOT show to see what was on special and hot before ordering to refill their inventory.
I will continue to research, maybe wait a week or two.
Thanks for the input.

Re: Decisions - Decisions
The model he mentions has the E2 grips, which is more "scouped out" under the frame. It lets you get a higher, deeper purchase on it so that the hold would be more like you mention on your Glock. To me this grip has made all the difference in the world. They came out with it because those of us with small hands had problems reaching the trigger correctly with their traditional grips. Obviously you can't go wrong with either... Both are great guns. Me, I like the Sig, but that's why there are so many makes/models out there.magillapd wrote:I have the G19 and my wife has the SigPro 2340 (.40 cal, but the older version of the 2022)

Choice A, the Glock.
MY reasoning= Quality Control, Sheer # of people/LEO that use that weapon with a proven background, ease of available parts/mags, (personal) reliability (so far i'm 4/4 of Glocks working 100% and 0/1 on sigs working 100%)

Re: Decisions - Decisions
Maybe so, but I would feel silly calling someone on gunbroker to see if I could stop by to see exactly how their gun would fit my hand.
I know I called each and every gun dealer (including Academy) within a 100 mile radius last week, and nobody had a G19 or the Sig in stock.
My present EDC is a stainless Sig P230, and I consider it one of the best I have ever owned.
