Did you ever see the "AR15/AK47/M1 comparison" that is floating around the internet?
Something like this:
'Shooting at a tree at 50yds"
* AR15 will hit dime-sized targets
* AK47 will hit half-dollar sized targets
* M1 will blow the tree in half.

Thanks for your inputs,j1132s!j1132s wrote:I have a CX 4 Storm in .40 S&W that takes 96 magazines. Since I own both the 92 and 96, I went with the 40 cal. version to take maximum advantage of the 16" barrel.
It is very accurate and reliable. The rifle comes w/ a builtin recoil pad (although there isn't much of a recoil from the pistol cartridge to begin with), The sights are adjustable for windage and elevation on the front sight; Rear sight has 2 aperatures SR (hsort range) and LR; barrel is chrome lined; uses blow back operation, can be configurd for left handed operatoin w/o tools, adjustable length of pull (w/ addition/deletion of spacers near the recoil pad), comes w/ bottom & side rails. Build quality is what you'd expect from an Italian Beretta. From a plastic rest with irons, I'm able to get 1" groups at 25 yards, and I am terrible with benchrest shooting. I easily get 2" groups at 25 yards standanding, w/o sling and other supports.
Never used it in a defensive situation, but I have used it in 3 different carbine matches. I have found it to be very competitive in the limited (10 round) division. It has good ergo and fast sights (compared to the keltec sub 2000, which is its competitor). For the carbine matches, I keep it on SR since targets are never more than 30 yards away. There is no very-high capacity mags for the 40 cal., so in a real defensive situation I'm not sure if it is an optimal carbine. The carbines comes with a factory custom hard carry case that has room for sling, 5 mags and 200 rounds of ammo. Perfect for a carbine match.
Prices are a bit high since it is a Beretta. IMHO, a keltec, although not as good, deserves a look if you are considering this carbine because it is cheaper, can use Glock mags, reliable, accurate, and made in the USA. If you can stand the looks, you may even look into the Hi point carbine, they are even cheaper than the Keltec, but the ones I saw at a gun show looks way substandard in terms of fit.
