Going to shoot sporting clays for the first time

Never tried this before so let me have the advice from you that know how. Shotguns I have are Mossberg Silver reserve o/u, Rem 1100 and Winchester SX3. Have different chokes for all three guns.

An O/U seems to be the weapon of choice for all of the clay sports.

I shot sporting clays for the first time in September with AndyC. Modified over I/C worked well.

If this is your first time, you may want to shoot from the red or green tees.

Whichever one fits you best. Close your eyes (don't peek!) and mount each shotgun to your shoulder. Settle your face into the comb of the stock (and don't peek!) so that everything feels perfectly comfortable - then open your eyes and see if you're looking right down the barrel. Choose whichever one fits you best.

whatever has atleast an improved cylinder choke will work fine. I shoot with a pump and semiauto. the semi auto is nice for doubles or you can have a o/u or side by side.

I will have to agree with the advice that whatever fits you best, but I will add to that whatever you like to shoot the best.

I generally just use the improved cylinder. As an aside, I've seen a number of guys at sporting clays events change chokes a lot, obviously because they thought they needed to, but it didn't improve their shooting any.

Well I tried it and think I am hooked. Only shot 54% but boy did I have a good time. Looking forward to next month for a shoot and may even try a new shotgun. The SX3 did great but you can never have too many shotguns. Really enjoyed the minis and the rabbit.
