Problem is guns are solid like steel and all the time I see tons of pre-owned firearms are at sale at Cabeleas and tons more at Gun shows. There should be no shortage. maybe evil black rifles and cool bull-ups.

This has to do with NEW guns, not pre-owned.

Ruger has suspended new orders.

Ed Brown wait times have moved from 5 Months before Shot Show to 9 Months now.

All handgun Mfg's are experiencing increasing numbers of orders that many of them (like Ruger & Brown) cannot keep up with.

I'm good as long as I can buy primers, powder and bullets ;-)

I'm hoping none of us contribute to a rerun of the silly hysteria we endured in 2009 that lead to shortages and absurd ammo prices. :patriot:

The firearms distributors are seeing an increase in dealers buying what they have and stocking more firearms than typical, from what I have been told this is mostly on the handgun side of the industry so far.

As far as ammo is concerned I am going to have enough ammo on hand so I can shoot whenever I want to without having to go searching for it and paying the inflated prices that has happened in the past. I have increased my minimum/maximum on hand though. I guess if that means that I am contributing to the hysteria then so be it. Ammo prices are not going to go down so buying now ultimatly saves me money in the long run.

Well, having only recently made the switch from .40 to .45 I have only been able to build up a stock of 400-500 rounds of .45. I can find those 250 round boxes of UMC stuff every now and then, but man that stuff is dirty. I have 3-4 100 rounds boxes of .45, but that's all so far. I look in each WalMart I happen to be in. There's three or four that I check every couple of weeks.

I have been in the market for a particular pistol that is not available let alone at a reasonable price. I saw one last week at a gun show and it was on sale for almost $200 more than the price my regular dealer quoted me before he called in his order. He then called back and said 19 week delivery time. That $200 is looking tempting especially as the two alternatives that I had in mind are also not available. Look at the Cheaper than Dirt website for a 1911, mid-range and above. The website shows them almost all out of stock and they are not taking backorders. This feels very much like 2008-9 and I believe the nasty election fight brewing with all it's histrionics and vitriole well make 09' look like the good old days.

Think I'm good on guns. More ammo is what I want. I've never reloaded before but seriously looking into it. Big chunka change for all that stuff.

According to the Brady folks, this is a lie, and fewer Americans are buying guns.

I'm good to go on guns too. I need to pick up another couple thousand rounds of M855, and load a whole bunch more .308. And I need to load a bunch of .45 and 9mm too.

As soon as my DPMS Oracle upper for my New Frontier Armory lower arrives (come on Monday!) I'm going to concentrate on AR mags and 5.56 ammo along with some additional 9mm, 40, and 45 ACP SD ammo, primers and powder and, 55gr .223 bullets. Handgun bullets arent' a problem I have a lead pot, lead and molds for 9, 40, 45, and .30 caliber rifle.

My DPMS Oracle upper came in today (2 more getting here Monday). Slapped on my NFA lower and put a quad rail hand guard on it. Total cost so far (including the quad rail) is $535. Less than what I could find an AK for.
