1st AR build..What do I do with greasy parts?

Hello, I wanted to know what do I do with the parts that are greasy before I put them together?

I used Simple Green to degrease.

I give all the LPK pieces besides trigger and hammer a finger coat of bearing grease. You won't be cleaning these parts during your routine... protect them from corrosion and wear long term.

My personal opinion when it comes to greasing/degreasing parts during assembly is grease the heck out of everything. Whatever you can wipe of... wipe it off. It's your only chance to insulate parts that will likely never be tended to unless you start driving out roll pins. If you have a preferred method then use that. CLP dries up and you won't be able to replace it easily so I take an approach that will stick around for a while.

I was under the impression he was going to degrease them so I was trying to inject a little humor. ala 3 stooges (Wake up and go to sleep!)

Wouldn't hurt to leave them greased and put 'em in I suppose. I just don't know what they're using at the factory so I use something with good lubricity and corrosion protection that I know will work. Some places use a preservative type grease that is more of a sticky substance than good 'ol slick wheel bearing grease.

Gotcha. I guess that makes sense...wouldn't leave cosmolene in a gun, so parts should be cleaned then regreased...just seemed like a work harder, not smarter situation at first.

Wait, you're supposed to CLEAN AKs??

I put them in greasy. The triggers in ARs arent exactly 1911 quality so it really has never made a noticeable difference to me after building dozens of ARs. If they are dry then I grease them with axle grease or assembly grease sometimes. Never had a failure.

Who said I clean them? BUT... I guess I take the cosmoline off and grease them correctly before use. Im gonna have #9 next week. If they all smelled of cosmoline I would put them in the bath with me and bathe in them. yea. awesome.
