New toy!! Beretta U22 Neos

Post by olafpfj »

Sold my Ruger 22/45 to fund a new 22. My wife couldn't really shoot or manipulate the controls on my Ruger so I've been looking for something with a longer barrel and easier grip for her. Took her to Bass Pro and had her try them all out and the Beretta was the one she liked. Just finished cleaning and lubricating everything and should be able to get to the range on Sunday or Monday.

First impressions...
1) the trigger has quite a bit of takeup and long, gritty creep. I'll see how much that will affect my shooting but I don't think it will make much of a difference to my wife.
2) Rough tooling on the wear surfaces but only shooting it will tell me if that makes much of a difference.
3) Kinda feels like a pellet gun in terms of fit and finish.

I read a bit up on it before I bought it and it seems like people generally like the pistol. I've found a write up on how to do a trigger job on it but I'm going to leave it alone for a while. It meets my price point and more importantly the wife likes how it fits her hand so I might be able to get her to the range more often... :cheers2:

I had one just like that one and trained a lot of students with it. I had the older one that had the safety recall. Did the recall and then sold it. It was a flawless shooter, you will enjoy it. The more you shoot it the better it will get. Mine never ever jammed, loved cheap Ram Golden bullets and pretty much anything I fed it. I sold it because I picked up a Sig 1911-22. and although my Sig is a great shooter, that Neos was better built and easier to clean. So enjoy. :thumbs2:

Just got back from the range and the little Neos shot like a champ. So long as I do my part it is quite accurate.

More importantly...the wife loved it!!!!! :anamatedbanana
She has said she will go to the range more often with me now that she has something that fits her hands and she can easily manipulate the controls on. :thumbs2:

On the ride home she asked if she was shooting well enough to pass the CHL test. Unbeknownst to me she has been reluctant to get her CHL because she was worried about the shooting test. She knows she will have to shoot my Sig226 in 9mm but now that she has something to practice with she wants to go for it.. :thewave

For the record, she was shooting far better than anyone else at the range. Not her first time but she is still very new to it.
