Advice for dealing with Jack Ross Ammo
It's been 2.5 months since I ordered a case of .45 reloads. They did a promotion on 9mm which caused a huge influx of orders, and put them drastically behind. When I placed my order there was no indication that there would be any extended wait other than normal processing time. Now 2.5 months later, I receive a voicemail from Jack Ross informing me that some part of their reloading operation is broken and that they will be unable to fill my order. The options given to me are a refund or exchange for some other item they have in stock with equal value.
Here are what I've considered doing:
1. Their website no longer has .45 reloads up, yet they do have factory new .45 for sale. So demand that I be given factory new ammo instead of the reloads. The catch of course is that the factory new rounds cost more than the reloads.
2. Get 00 buck instead of .45. The thing about it is, the buck doesn't have free shipping and the .45 I ordered did. I paid for $280 worth of ammo, and I want $280 worth of ammo, so if I go down this route I plan on demanding that they waive the shipping.
3. Just take the refund to guarantee that they get none of my money.
If I had known it would be 2.5 months before I got the ammo, I would have never ordered it. In fact, the only reason I didn't demand a refund a long time ago is because I'm in school in Boston, away from my guns. I had the time to wait. Now I've waited 2.5 months, and am being told that that wait was for nothing. I try to sympathize with small businesses, and not make demands that cause them to incur extra cost, but it's almost been 3 months. This is ridiculous. What do you guys think I should do?

Why frustrate yourself further? Just take the refund and move on.

I'd just take the refund. If you request other ammo the same thing could happen again.
I know it's frustrating, but I wouldn't get too worked up about it. The guy's trying to make it right by personally calling you and offering the refund. He's going to be in tight spot because you aren't the only one he has to refund money back to, plus he has to fix or replace broken equipment and he's going to lose sales over this.

Good advice. Treat him right, and maybe he'll remember and do you right if you ever order from him again. I'd just take the refund too......unless you really want the factory new ammo. By the way, you could just phone and ask if, since he's the one canceling the order, can you please have the free freight deal on the factory ammo? The shipping will actually cost him less than it would have for the reloads because it is less ammo >> less weight, etc. If he won't agree to that, then just ask for the refund and move on.Transplant wrote:I'd just take the refund. It does, indeed, show an outstanding level of customer service that he left oyu a voicemail for this.
Imagine how it would have gone with some of the larger retail places, a bland email that tells you that the ammo is backordered.

Well, you are the kingofchaos. you didn't expect things to go smoothly did you?
A personal call from the owner? His behind must be in a deep crack and he's trying to save it. Go easy on him since you were out of town anyway, take a refund and move on?

Re: Advice for dealing with Jack Ross Ammo
Ha. When I said "Jack Ross" I meant Jack Ross the company, not a person named Jack Ross. It was actually the owner's mother-in-law who called me. Their customer service is actually pretty abysmal when it comes to communication. Their reasoning for it is that they're so backordered, that they have everyone on the floor making ammo. No time to answer phone calls or emails. I called and inquired about swapping for shotgun shells, but they didn't have enough to do that deal. I think inquired about factory new ammo, and they said they'd switch it for factory new. What I don't know is if they're sending me a case of factory new, or my monetary equivalent of factory new. Either way, they told me it would take a week for the factory new ammo or a week for them to order more shotgun shells, so I just told them to roll with the .45. What I did hear though is that they're changing out all the dies in one of their .40 cal machines to produce the .45. I hope it's not one of their new machines, because those have produced a few stuck barrels. We'll see how it goes. I'm thinking about cancelling the order and putting the money towards a press.

I just got my first press about a month ago. ===Lovin' it===KingofChaos wrote: We'll see how it goes. I'm thinking about cancelling the order and putting the money towards a press.
