I thought I'd share this sign since we have postings for 30.06 and this is a non-30.06 sign posted conspicuously in the main entrance to Conroe Regional Medical Center

In case you can't read it (my phone camera sucks) it says

"State law prohibits carrying a handgun on these premises"

in both English & Spanish.

As we all know, GC Â§411.204(b) requires a sign barring carry of handguns at hospitals licensed under Ch. 2471 of the Health & Safety code. Of course, 46.035(i) requires 30.06 signage to keep CHL licensees from carrying at hospitals mentioned in 411.204 (b). Here's the correct 30.06 wording again:

(A) a card or other document on which is written language identical to the following: "Pursuant to Section 30.06, Penal Code (trespass by holder of license to carry a concealed handgun), a person licensed under Subchapter H, Chapter 411, Government Code (concealed handgun law), may not enter this property with a concealed handgun"; or

(B) a sign posted on the property that:
(i) includes the language described by Paragraph (A) in both English and Spanish;
(ii) appears in contrasting colors with block letters at least one inch in height; and
(iii) is displayed in a conspicuous manner clearly visible to the public.

Now, bearing in mind that this is in Conroe (almost everyone I know in Conroe is either CHL friendly or indifferent), did they

a) post the wrong sign?
b) post the correct sign (e.g. - the hospital is required to post a sign, but they aren't attempting to bar legal CHL carry)?

Dont know what they are "trying to do" but it is not compliant. I would walk in & never break stride.

I only stopped long enough to snap the photo.

I know it's probably one of those questions that can only be answered by risking compliant signage, but I thought I'd see what y'all thought

It will get a glance from me & I will never slow down. Vast majority of the folks here will have the same or similar answer too.

The Huntsville Hospital used to have the 51% sign posted because it was "cheaper than the correct one". Go figure!

Lufkin, Woodland Heights, did that in the beginning. They have a Baretta 92 ghost buster now & every time I enter w/ the Wife or Mom I used to ask them, "you dont have a Baretta, do you." They both look at me &

Now that they both have a PX4 Storm I have had to chang the

"You dont have a 92, do you." Still the answer is the same.

We had to go there awhile back, just told the wife the sign was not legal and I never slowed down.

I think maybe places around Texas place noncompliant signs like this in order to "comply" with some idiotic company policy - all the while knowing the sign is worthless.

Then again, maybe I am just being optimistic and hopefull.

The same sign is at the radiology center at Tomball Regional Hospital.
I thought about it today as i walked by it on my way to the restroom.
I bet that these signs were put up when the initial settings of the CCW statutes in Texas. Remember that the change for no carry in a hospital and church, etc was an addendum to the appropriate section of the code. I bet that the hospitals were not informed of the changes or received the text of the code and did not understand it and therefore ignored it.
Anyway, as we all have said, just walk on by.

I believe that facilities licensed under Ch.421 of the Health & Safety Code are required to post some form of "No Handguns" sign, but there is no wording specified.

That was what prompted my original question about if this was intentionally NOT 30.06 compliant signage (that is, they complied with Ch. 421's requirements in such a way as to not bar CHL carry).

The nursing home in Slaton, Texas has one of these. Only difference is the lettering is blue. Walk on by.
