First AR

Post by Blindref757 »

Just bought my first AR-15 and thought I'd share. About 14 months ago, I was interested in an entry level S&W Sport model and was mainly attracted to the price. While I know that many consider that to be a very good gun, the debate about AR's is as wide as it is long. The recurring theme by many experienced users on numerous web forums like this one and videos, is that you get what you pay for in most cases. That being said, I really decided that I wanted Rock River early on in the process. I went through a million different theoretical situations, configurations, and looked hard at a $900 max price including a "non-Eotec" holographic sight. In the end, I bumped up my budget just a little, saved a couple of extra months, and rewarded myself for the wait. A Rock River Arms Tactical Operator 2 with a NcSTAR hologaphic sight. I have a magpul collapsable rear sight on order that I will add in a week or so. The front sight is pop-up on the barrel.

Nice rifle... I've been going thru the same process and recently just discarded the idea of the S&W 22... looking into either DPMS or Bushmaster (Superlight Carbon 15).

Congrats on your AR and have fun shooting!

Awesome! I have to say I am extremely jealous as that's the exact AR I've been saving for for the past couple months. By next week I should have enough which happens to coincide with when my LGS expects their next delivery of RRA Operator 2's. Congrats and I can't wait to join you!

Very nice. I, too, had considered that rifle.

$1300 out the door for the gun, the drop front handle, the NCStar holographic sight, and two boxes of (100 ea) brass ammo.
