How does re-blueing affect value?

I have a "T" series Hi-Power s/n T2237xx I bought quite a few years ago. (30
) It was a carry gun, the bluing worn pretty thin. I took it in to a 'smith and asked if I would be ruining the value to have it reworked. He assured me that model was plentiful and would probably never have any real "collector" value. I told him to go ahead. I was very happy with the work, still am. He knew what he was doing. So, fast forward 30 years, now we know there is a collector value for the T series to some extent. A 60's used gun is worth as much or a little more than a brand new one.
So, here is the question... does it de-value a semi-collectable like a Hi-Power to re-finish it. Honest opinions, won't hurt my feelings. I made my decision years ago. This will be passed down to my boys, no plan to ever sell it.
