Ice picks continue to be a popular weapon in New York City. They are readily available, inexpensive, untraceable, and silent.

It is time to regulate ice picks in NYC. Then, of course, microstamp each one and have "sample ice chips" taken and stored for comparison purposes.

Mayor Bloomberg should pass a ban on this deadly devices... outlaw the online sales of ice picks and put limits to how many ice picks you can buy per year (i.e. 2 per year). Implement a 7-day waiting period or at the minimum an city-wide online system to check the background of those buying these things. Perhaps a special tax of 1000% should be imposed as well...

For those that ARE allowed to purchase ice picks after the upcoming ban, I believe that manufacturers should have to create rapidly dulling versions of the icepick. That way, the icepick wouldn't have too high of a "capacity".

I hope they dont start adding foregrips, hi-cap mags, and optics to the ice picks....then they would be "assault picks"....

Add the optional aggressive "defensive" tips, and it can be considered a "toothed" pick

No pun intended, but for some reason, the thought of getting stabbed with an ice pick is "chilling".

Whenever someone says, "No pun intended, but..."

If I had to be assaulted with a deadly weapon, I think I'd rather take my chances with a bullet than be stabbed with an ice pick by someone who knew what he was doing. The article goes into some detail about the injuries they cause.

There's probably a good reason why assassins traditionally used stilettos or daggers.
